Yet More December from Heck...

On Friday, before I got my centipede bite, Mrs. T had her own difficulties, these a little more serious. She had chest pains, beyond what she's had most of her life, and shortness of breath. We called House Calls Hawaii to come to the shop instead of risking an ER trip. The house calls doc gave her an ECG, which was abnormal, and a nitro pill, which immediately helped (usually not a good sign). The doc called an ambulance for her and she went to the ER. After just a couple of hours, she was released with an all clear, but with a stress scheduled for Monday (yesterday). The stress test showed a problem, with the lower part of her heart.

Today she got a call from the doctor with the results of an ultrasound. The doc said it's not good. There is a problem with an artery at the back of her heart that feeds the bottom of the heart. The tests show ischemia in that area. She'll go to a cardiologist on Friday on Oahu, and he will do an angiogram. If necessary, he will put in a stent while she's there. The doc told her to get a one-way ticket to Oahu! We knew that she meant for us to do so because we don't know how long she'll need to be there, but it sure sounded terrible.

So that's that. We'll know more this weekend.

She's had these pains off and on for most of her adult life, but has never had a doctor take her seriously. They've all laughed it off as anxiety. This time, she was insistent that something was wrong, and with a little testing they found it.

Those danged doctors are the producers of said anxiety by not taking their patients seriously! Grrr. She's going to be bored to tears in there so make sure you take some books for her to read or something to pass the time. A stent is probably just the ticket. Hang in there!

Hope you don't mind if some of us ask the Real Big Guy to watch over her and you and the doctors...

Thanks Jan, I'm not sure what Rush Limbaugh can do for her though.

Sorry to hear this. We'll be praying for you both. Keep us updated.

I hadn't considered praying to Rush, but perhaps he'd make a good message relay station.

Christmas can only get better for you guys. What rotten luck!

In an attempt to sooth your misery by comparison, last summer my brother-in-law awoke to an excruciating pain in his ear, vomit, and vertigo. In the ER they pulled out a beetle (perhaps Ringo). Guess Hawaii doesn't have all the bugs.

There was a Star Trek episode about the beetle in the ear, wasn't there?
